About ACTE
Welcome to the website of the European Textile Collectivities Association (ACTE).
On our website you will find all the information about this Association, founded in 1991 in Guimarães (Portugal) on the initiative of the Ajuntament de Terrassa, and the Diputació de Barcelona (Spain), the Communauté Urbaine de Lille (France), the Associacão de Municípios do Vale do Ave (Portugal), the IEG de Mouscron and IDETA of Tournai (Belgium). ACTE is one of the first associations of local authorities at European level and is currently made up of more than 70 members.
The founding aim of ACTE is to represent and defend the interests of territorial collectivities and adherent organisations that represent territories with a presence of the textile, clothing, leather, footwear and fashion accessories sectors.
Since its constitution, the main activities of ACTE have basically been:
- Lobbying actions: to contribute to the development and implementation of European and national policies, to discuss and collaborate with the European institutions and the social and economic players (business associations, trade unions, etc.) in representation of the interests of the member territories.
- Preparation and management of joint projects in all spheres of activity of the network, co-financed in the framework of European and national programmes.
- Awareness raising actions: to foster the external communication of the member territories' situation through the organisation of international conferences, the presence in pertinent media and the dissemination of publications.
ACTE gives cities a voice in Europe in order to defend their interests and tackle common challenges in a concerted way.
