ACTE President meets mayor of Istanbul

On 29th November, Teo Romero met the mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbas and its Director of Foreign Relations Selamettin Ermis to introduce ACTE and its activities and to invite the city to join the association.
Given the importance of the textile and clothing industry in Turkey, Mr Romero stressed that the enlargement of the network towards Turkish local and regional authorities is one of the priorities of the current ACTE mandate plan. The mayor of Istanbul was very susceptible to the philosophy of ACTE and proposed sending a delegation to the headquarters of the Presidency in Barcelona to get a further insight into the network's activities.
In the framework of his visit to Turkey, Teo Romero also met the Ambassador of Spain to Turkey Joan Clos and the Commercial Attaché of the Embassy Francisco J. Alonso to ask them for their support in establishing official contacts with local and regional public administrations in Turkey.
In this context, let us also inform you that the President of the ACTE General Assembly Jerzy Kropiwnicki participated as speaker in the “2nd International Textile & Apparel Summit” organised by the Denizli Chamber of Industry on 31st October. Mr Kropiwnicki basically presented 3 fields of action ACTE helps to promote and develop in its member territories: Strategic planning processes, worker relocation and training, and urban renewal and re-valorisation of the textile heritage.
