2nd edition of Badalona Moda awards young talents

The City of Badalona / Reactivació Badalona, ACTE and the Gremi de Indústries de Confecció de Barcelona organised on 7 and 8 July the second edition of Badalona Moda.
In the framework of this event, on 7 July,
a conference given by fashion designer Modesto Lomba
and a Business Meeting between textile entrepreneurs
and 25 promising designers, finalist of the "Joaquim
Mercader Competition for Young Designers" took place.
During this 2nd edition, business people had the opportunity to
see the fashion collections and interview the young talents who
have been selected to participate as finalist in the "Joaquim
Mercader Competition for Young Fashion Designers", addressed
to fashion design students attending the final year and fashion designers
graduated within the last two years.
On 8 July, the 25 finalist creations were showcased during a catwalk and the jury chaired by Lluís Juste de Nin and composed of Frans Baviera, Josep Abril, Toni Francesc, Pep Avila and Marta Coca, voted the three categories of the Joaquim Mercader Competition 2010, endowed with 2.000€ each.
ACTE president, Teo Romero, handed
over the "Award for material treatment" to
the winners Inés Paules
and Esther Murcia;
the "Award for creativity and vanguard"
was for David Cabra, and
Laia Garcés received the
"Award for comercial viability".
In addition, BDNMODA 2010 sponsors: Modeast, IBAC, The
Brandery, CPM and Moda Badalona, also offered important prizes
to the finalists such as traineeships and the participation in different
internationals fashion fairs.
Badalona Moda is one of the competitions that have expressed its interest
to participate in one of the strategic projects of ACTE in 2010: the creation
of a network of Competitions for Young Designers currently organised
by different ACTE members.
