New ACTE President and Executive Secretary elected

The First Vice-president of Lille Métropole (France), Michel-François Delannoy, and the Mayor of Terrassa (Spain), Pere Navarro, were elected as the new ACTE President and Executive Secretary at the General Assembly of celebrated on 2nd April in Santa Margarida de Montbui (ES). The new incumbents presented their priorities and areas of work for the next mandate 2011-2013.
The General Assembly was chaired by the President of the General Assembly and Mayor of Lodz (Poland), Hanna Zdanowska. The outgoing president of ACTE, Teo Romero, presented the Activities Report 2010 highlighting the successful results of the three main strategic projects that the association defined during the last General Assembly celebrated in Guimaraes (Portugal): the tour of Futurotextiles exhibition around ACTE territories, the presentation of the commemorative publication for the 20th Anniversary of the network and the organization of the first edition of the Young Designers Contest of ACTE at European Level as of 2011.
The day before the General Assembly, in the framework of a day devoted to the 20th anniversary of the network, the book ACTE: 20 years of innovation was presented, which contains the activities and achievements of the network and includes some examples of good practices carried out in the partner territories related to projects of urban transformation, innovative uses of former textile factories and employment and entrepreneurship policies.
The new presidency of ACTE presented the priority lines for the new mandate:
- Monitoring of globalization regarding the opening of international
markets
- Leading the textile industry towards high added value products:
technical and innovative textiles
- Anchor the textile industry in the field of creative industries:
artistic dimension, fashion, design and architecture
- Proceed with the efforts to increase the visibility of the territories
and the European textile through different events
- Highlight the textile heritage and history, both industrial
and human
During the General Assembly, two new member territories were presented: Ronse (BE) and Santa Margarida de Montbui (ES), as well as the new adherent member IRES Toscana (IT).
