First ACTE young designers contest

The “1st European Contest for Young Designers” promoted by ACTE (European Textile Collectivities Association) "The Fashion Contest Award" took place on Friday 22nd. July 2011 in the framework of Riccione Moda Italia Fashion week 2011, an event which aims to promote the international creativity.

15 young competitors coming from Germany, Poland, Portugal, Italy and Spain exhibited their works. The winner was Ludovico Milani, who received as a prize a scholarship of 2.100 €.

The designers who took part in this edition of the Contest are :

  • Laia Garcés Jimeno & Núria Martí Casanova (Joaquim Mercader Contest 2010 – Badalona, Spain + brand project a-couple)
  • Christine Wolf (Play Trend Contest 2009 – Museo del tessuto – Prato, Italy)
  • Monika Alicja Wazny (Recycling in Fashion Contest 2006 e 2007 – Lodz, Poland)
  • Katarzyna Ostapowicz (Fashion Designer Awards 2010 – Warsaw, Poland)
  • Monika Blazusiak (Re-Act Contest 2010 – Lodz, Poland)
  • Mara Indio (Teens on the Runaway Contest 2011 – Lisbon, Portugal)
  • Margherita Cascino (Play Trend Contest 2010– Museo del tessuto – Prato, Italy)
  • Giovanni Percacciuolo (Moda Movie Contest 2011 – Cosenza, Italy)
  • Luigia Salvato (Moda Movie Contest 2011 – Cosenza, Italy)
  • Veronica Giaimo (Moda Movie Contest 2011 – Cosenza, Italy)
  • Valerio Lupi (Riccione Moda Italia Contest 2010 – Riccione, Italy)
  • Ludovico Milani (Riccione Moda Italia Contest 2010 – Riccione, Italy)
  • Rafael Pérez Girón (Jóvenes Diseñadores Andaluces Contest 2011 – Córdoba, Spain)

The young creators who participated in this contest were the winners of their national contests and they have a great professional back-ground in textile and fashion sector. They took part in the competition with creations that got a big success in their own countries, and with a specific creation for the Contest in Riccione, related to eco-sustainability, and ethic&eco-friendly fashion. These themes had been chosen by ACTE for this first edition of the Contest.
CNA Federmoda – the organisation in charge of the event - is working since a long time with Italian enterprises and European associations to develop and support emerging trends in fashion sector.

The show was celebrated in Villa Mussolini Park in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and great interest, as the projects shown during the ACTE Contest were of a high quality and originality

Mrs. COLETTE HUVENNE, the ACTE Executive President, Lille Métropole’s councillor and City of Tourcoing’s councillor (France), and Mr. TEO ROMERO, ACTE Vice president of International Relations and Mayor of Santa Margarida de Montbui (Spain), were among the audience. They were in charge of awarding the prize offered by ACTE to the winner, Ludovico Milani, who was chosen by a jury formed by entrepreneurs and designers.
