Abstract:

The main project activities were carried out in the framework of a 2 days conference in Guimarães, Portugal. The conference had the following specific objectives:
  • To analyse and exchange working methods aimed at the enhancement of the inclusion and social, cultural and labour integration of immigrants in the territories of the EU-Member States;
  • To increase the understanding of diversity and multiculturalism, both "inherent" elements to immigration. Besides, to promote activities in order to foster meetings between municipalities. These meetings are considered as opportunity for the exchange of experiences between social organisations dealing with immigrants and public institutions.
  • To propose new lines of action through the dissemination of best practices and examples of successful immigration policies already applied in some territories, so that they can offer an answer to the reality of all.
  • To inform municipalities about the financial resources, policies and tools made available by the European Union for an accurate implementation of immigration policies.
