Stage 3: Design of new fashion collections inspired by European textile traditions (April 2009 – June 2010)
Young artists and design schools will play a key role in the re-launching of a European textile industry - whose features are quality and traditional values - and that recovers and re-develops the century-old know-how of European textile cities.
During local seminars the students of Winchester School of Art and Escola Profissional Cenatex di Guimaraes will start studying The textile heritage of the territories involved in the project; students will also start developing new fashion plates and textile sketches looking at the digital Eurotex ID database.
After the study and research phase, a selected group of 6 students from Winchester School of Art and Escola Profissional Cenatex di Guimaraes will visit Guimaraes, Prato and Terrassa local museums and industrial districts. Project works will be then realized using new designs inspired by textile samples previously catalogued. The results will be promoted with a catalogue and and a final exhibition.
