ACTE – European Textile Collectivities Association
ACTE is a public-non profit organisation created in April 1991 in Guimarães (Portugal) on the initiative of the Ajuntament de Terrassa, and the Diputació de Barcelona (Spain), the Communauté Urbaine de Lille (France), the Associacão de Municípios do Vale do Ave (Portugal), the IEG de Mouscron and IDETA of Tournai, (Belgium). ACTE is currently composed of more than 70 local and regional administrations from 6 countries of the European Union and Croatia. All of which with a significant presence of the textile, clothing, leather and accessories sectors. The enlargement of the association means an important qualitative and quantitative step forward which has been realised without renouncing our main goal: "Represent and defend the interests of territories with a strong presence of the textile and clothing sector". Since its constitution, the main activities of ACTE have basically been lobby actions, such as the participation in the High Level Group on Textiles and Clothing set up by the European Commission in 2004, awareness campaigns, like the organisation of international conferences and seminars, and the preparation and management of projects with EU-funding
