The European parliament votes a new report for a global sustainable value chain in garment sector

The Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) have voted on the last 26th April a new report on the EU flagship initiative on the garment sector calling the EC to take action across all aspects of sustainability, social, environmental and financial, while stressing human-rights issues. Most of the Members of the European Parliament asked unanimously to draw a roadmap to achieve the common goal of sustainability in the whole supply value chain of the textile and garment industry.

To this end, the EU will focus its development cooperation and financial support to improve sustainable business practices and working conditions in producing countries, promote best practices for social and environmental standards, and reach out to consumers to raise awareness about how clothes are made and promote responsible choices.
