Modacc to Mexico
The Catalan Cluster of Fashion, Modacc, participates in a comercial visit to Mexico.
Modacc is in a commercial visit to Mexico from the 26th March to the 1st April. The mission is organised by the Catalan agency of business development Acció, lead by Joan Aregio, and was announced in the last edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion.
The Minister of Enterprise of the Catalan Government, Jordi Baiget, made the announcement in the framework of the opening of the third edition of 080 Barcelona Fashion Showroom, the main commercial activity of the event.
According to David Garcia, Director of Modacc, “the textile and fashion sector exports annually 5.000 millions of Euros, from them a 70% are exported by fashion brands and a 30% by textile industry enterprises. Mexico is the 3rd world market of Catalan textile investments and one of the non-EU markets more interesting for the brands in Catalonia region.”
Brands like Desigual or Mango and industries like Antex or Dogi have affiliated companies in Mexico and an important number of Catalan fashion brands are present in stores like Liverpool or Palacio del Hierro.
Modacc is the organiser of 080 Barcelona Fashion Showroom, which aims at putting in touch fashion production companies with international buyers. In the last edition of 080, a reverse commercial mission from about 20 countries made more than 250 interactions between enter-prises and buyers.
The objective of the mission is not to close businesses, but to generate new business and com-mercial opportunities that allow establish a long-term relation, according to the organisation. After starting this initiative one year ago, Modacc calculates to have generated 2 million Euros turnover for exhibitor brands through these business contacts.
