REIMAGINE TEXTILE AWARDS - THE BET OF MATARÓ FOR INTELLIGENT TEXTILES
Tecnocampus and the Ajuntament de Mataró, EURECAT technology center and the business association ASEGEMA, have convened the first edition of the Reimagine Textile Awards, aimed at entrepreneurs and start ups with business ideas related to technology and innovation in textiles. Other partners of the initiative are the Diputació de Barcelona, ACCIÓ, AEI Textiles, LCI Design School, Elisava, Moda 22, and Materfad University School.
The objective of these awards is to contribute to the socio-economic development of Mataró, through the economic, logistical and acceleration support of new business projects.
The Reimagine Textile Awards distinguish two categories: The first is aimed at recognizing business ideas, with a prize of 3,000 euros for the first one. The second corresponds to the best emerging start-ups, with a cash prize of 5,000 euros the first one rated and 3,000 the second. The winners will also receive support in the technical viability study of their product, business mentorship, discounts on the use of spaces in the Reimagine Textile Incubator to develop the business project in the Tecnocampus technology park, among others
Sheekr has been the winner of the award for the best start-up. The aim of this start-up is "virtualize the process of shopping together" and capture data that indicates what people want to buy. The app that is designing the company will have more than 1,000 stores in all over the State, with access to more than 10,000 products, which contain information such as price or photographs. This app will be available this summer for iOs, and in September it will be for Android.
In the category of best idea, the winning project of this first edition of the Reimagine Textile awards was for Cocoro, a line of breastfeeding bras made with absorbent and ergonomic tissue, which avoids the use of absorbent disks and incorporates textile technology by segregating microencapsulated substances to provide protection for the chest.
The other winners have been:
• Best idea category: second prize: Sensorial Processing Tex and a special mention for the Udesign project
